HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

Course description

This course covers all the necessary skills and knowledge required to provide first aid responses, life support, management of casualty(ies), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

This unit incorporates the content of units HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support.

Course outcome

At the successful completion of this course you will be issued with a statement of attainment that is valid for 3 years.

Please note that the CPR component of the training is only valid for 12 months and should be updated annually

Physical requirements for the course

A requirement for this unit of competency is that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult CPR manikin placed on the floor. There can be no exceptions to these Australian Government requirements that are clearly written into the Training Package. Therefore, if you unable to satisfy the physical requirements of the course you cannot be deemed competent or issued with a statement of attainment, even if the qualification is a necessary part of your employment conditions.

Course duration / Delivery methods

Initial course

Mixed mode

  • complete 2 hours of pre-course study, and
  • 5.5 hours of face to face training and assessment

or

  • complete 7.5 hours of face to face training and assessment

Refresher training

  • complete unsupervised revision pre-course study, and
  • 5.5 hours of face to face training and assessment

Location of Training

Training can be conducted at your site or a local venue.

Assessment procedure

You will be assessed during the course to show your instructor that you have an appropriate understanding of the procedures necessary to manage a life-threatening situation. This will consist of a theory assessment and some practical demonstrations.

Payment Terms

Fees for the training for individuals are payable before or on the day of training. Payment can by made by cash, credit card via e-Way or direct deposit to Debra’s First Aid Training.

Group booking payment terms are based on the agreement between the client and Debra’s First Aid Training.
